Before working in sound Justin started out as self-taught filmmaker and photographer. He has also been a Production Assistant, DP and Picture Editor. His science fiction feature Moonlight by the Sea won him two awards and his sound design for the film got him a job working at Soundcrafter. Since then he has been a sound editor, sound designer and field recordist on many of Richard Linklater'sfilms. He has been a production mixer on the documentary, The Horse Whisper, and many reality TV episodes for MTV. He expanded into supervision with David Gordon Green's feature Manglehorn and the pilot for Amazon Studio's Red Oaks. For both shows he was also the sound designer and the lead re-recording mixer. He has also taught in the Radio-Television-Film Department at the University of Texas at Austin.
